HEAT by CA Harms #BookTour

HEAT by CA Harms
Series: Montgomery Men #2 (Standalone)
Genre: Contemporary Romance
— SYNOPSIS —
Beckett Montgomery is a well-known detective in the New York area. He takes his job seriously and has little time for anything else.

But when he’s called to Shanelle Kramer’s apartment after she’s frightened by an intruder in the middle of the night, he finds himself getting a little too involved. He can’t seem to let go of the image of the beautiful, scared blonde sitting at the end of her couch in those tiny shorts and that even tinier tank top.

It was his job to keep her safe. His job to find the man stalking her.

But Beckett is finding it next to impossible to keep this case strictly professional.

Maybe just one taste would end his addiction for Shanelle.

But one taste was just a tease….

He needed more.

Because the Heat between them was just too hot to resist.

— EXCERPT
The moment she lifted her gaze, I swear I felt the floor shift beneath my feet and my stomach grew weak momentarily.

It was her, the woman from the club that night. The one I’d thought of often ever since she walked away from me that night and though I barely knew her I swear I felt the loss.

She looked so confident then, but now she looked so delicate and frail. The scared look in her eyes made my stomach feel hollow. It was a strange feeling, really. Over the years on the job, I’ve looked into the eyes of a terrified woman so many times. I’ve listened to them explain their fears and describe the terror they lived through, and watched them break in front of me. But I’ve never felt the kind of things I did now.

I wanted to find the asshole that had placed her in this state and strangle the life out of him.

“It’s you,” she whispered. I was surprised she recognized me in her current state of mind. Our initial meeting was so brief it probably couldn’t even be called an introduction. “Beckett,” she whispered, and I took a seat before her. “Right?” I nodded and ignored the curious looks of those around us. “Yes,” I replied as she continued to stare at me. “Beckett’s right. Detective Montgomery, actually,” I clarified and her eyes widened just a bit.

Her lip trembled even though I could tell she was attempting to appear strong. I wanted to take her into my arms and hold her close. I wanted to whisper that she was safe now, but I refrained. Fuck, I had never had this type of battle when it came to my job. Putting my emotions aside had never been a problem until now.

“There was someone here,” she said, staring me in the eyes with a look of determination. “I saw him. He just stood there in the doorway watching me. And I was so scared to move because I had no idea what he wanted. I wanted him to leave, but he stood there, watching and waiting, I don't even know for what.” She took in a deep breath. “I’ve never felt that kind of fear before.”

I allowed her a few moments to just breathe before I began my own series of questions, doing my best to sound supportive and genuine.

“I know it was dark, but was there anything about him you recognized?” She shook her head. “Could you tell if he had short hair, long hair?”

“He wore a hat. A baseball cap,” she clarified.

“Did he say anything? Do anything that you remember?”

She shook her head again.

“Did he turn in the doorway, was there any lighting illuminating the room that gave you the chance to see his side profile?” Another shake of her head left us with no answers. Tears rolled along her cheeks, and my chest ached. “It’s okay,” I assured her as I placed my hand on her forearm. “I’m gonna take a look around,” I said as I began to stand, and panic took over her features.

There was something greatly satisfying about the fact that she didn't like the idea of me leaving her. “Just a quick scan,” I assured her as I stood. “I’m not leaving. I promise you, you’re safe with me.”

She gave a quick nod before she wrapped her arms around herself and sank back into the couch, as if she were attempting to hide from this evening’s events.

As I moved from her living room to her bedroom, I looked for any clue that may help us solve this puzzle. Each time I looked to her, she was watching me, and that satisfied feeling returned again.

I’d never wanted to be any woman’s savior. I just woke up every day and fought the bad guys because I fucking loved the rush.

But tonight felt different. Knowing that she was looking at me as her hero felt deeply gratifying.

I wanted to be the one to saved her. I wanted to take down the man who’d terrorized her and give her back her freedom. And damn if I didn't want her to keep looking at me just like she was now.

Like I was her hero.

— ABOUT THE AUTHOR: CA HARMS —
A little about me. Let’s see where to start.

I love HEA stories, as long as they come packing a little heat. I need some excitement, some angst, and moments that make me fan my face are always good too. I am an Illinois girl, born and raised. Simple and true, it honestly doesn’t take much to make me happy. I love the little things; they truly mean the most. I may have a slight addiction to my new Keurig—oh my, that thing is a godsend. And so fast too. I have two children who truly are my very best friends, and their faces never fail to put a smile on my face. I have been married to my husband for sixteen years, and even though at times I want to beat him with a stick, I would never change the years we have had. We have learned and fallen, only to pick each other up, dust off the ache, and help each other make it right.

I am one of those authors that adore my fans. I love to hear from you. After all, it is because of each one of you that I continue to write. I look forward to your feedback.

Trinity Flores stumbled upon the Sawyer family when she needed it most.

But he had no idea the torment he was about to face, or the obstacles he would encounter from the Sawyer Brothers.

They didn’t make it easy for him to win her heart. He had to prove himself first, and that just made him fight harder to prove he was the right man for her.

Gaining Trinity’s trust was his number one goal.

— EXCERPT
Sometimes I woke from a dream of still being trapped in that house, still fearful of his anger. My mind would fall back to that place where I felt it was all deserved. Michael had a control over me I couldn’t explain, and I allowed it to continue for far too long.

I lived with it and just accepted it as my fate until that final day when I could no longer take the hate he showed me. I could barely even tolerate myself because I was so shameful of my life and how far I’d let things go.

It was my fault I never stood up to him; instead, I allowed him to knock me down daily and take all his anger out on me. He had a way with words that could make anyone feel inferior to him. He was condescending and manipulative and I was a fool.

It was disgusting, the person I had become.

I was really heartbroken now when I thought back on it all. How I’d wasted precious time, time I’d never get back.

But I escaped and somehow, by some miracle, I found my way to Livingston. I stumbled upon some of the greatest people with the warmest souls. And I was proud to refer to those people as my family. It didn’t matter that we didn’t share the same bloodline; they loved me just the same and I in turn loved and adored them. It was because of the Sawyer family that I found the strength to press charges against Michael for the things he had put me through. It was because of them I filed for divorce and started to once again live my life.

I would forever be grateful to Noah and Ryan for helping me find the right path that day. They honestly could have shipped me down the road and forgotten about the homeless girl they found stranded in a car on a back country road. Instead they introduced me to the women they loved, and in turn I found myself surrounded by so much joy I had no idea what to do with it all.

The three Sawyer men referred to me daily as their sister and so did their wives. And Tammy, God bless her, gave me the love of a mother, something I’d never had before, and nothing had ever felt so good.

It was something I treasured and in no way could I ever explain just how thankful I truly was.

The bond we’d formed could never be broken. I was finally home.

I had become so wrapped up in my own thoughts I hadn’t heard the bell above the door of Sassy Ladies chime, announcing a customer had entered. But at the sound of a deep voice just a few feet behind me, I yelped in surprise as I spun around with my hand pressed tightly against my chest.

There, only a few feet away, stood the man who’d starred in so many of my dreams lately. So vivid and convincing that it was hard not to feel they were real.

Chase Douglas.

“Need some help?”

The unexpected sound of a deep male voice made Becky jump and lose her balance once again on the wet floor. Two hands gripped her shoulders to steady her and she immediately wished he’d have let her fall. Feeling her cheeks on fire, she turned to face Neil.

His profile picture did not fully capture the hotness standing in front of her. Time had been far too good to him. The young, boyish face had been replaced by a rugged handsomeness that would turn more than one head in the small town, and she immediately felt a pang of irrational jealousy. His solid, square jaw with just the right amount of stubble had always been her weakness, and his dark brown eyes held a look of uncertainty mixed with a friendly familiarity as though no time at all had passed since she’d last gazed into them.

Becky folded her arms across her body, putting up a physical barrier to match the internal one that had immediately sprung up around her heart at the unexpected feelings spurred by the sight of her ex. “What are you doing here? How’d you get in?” Small town or not, she never left her door unlocked. After having a police officer for a husband, she’d known not to adopt a false sense of security.

“Your daughter let me in.” He surveyed the mess of the laundry room. “Washing machine problems?” he asked, removing his jacket to reveal a tight, black T-shirt haphazardly tucked into one side of a hip-hugging pair of denim.

“Oh no…it’s no…” She clamped her lips together. She couldn’t even remember the question. What was it about his big, muscular arms that turned her brain to complete mush?

Maybe the fact that she still remembered what it felt like to be wrapped up in them?

“Let me look,” Neil said, moving her away by her shoulders and stepping carefully into the two inches of water on the floor. It sloshed under his boots and soaked the frayed hem of his faded jeans.

Riding boots. He’d always talked about owning a motorcycle. An adrenaline junkie from an early age, he’d owned his first dirt bike at fourteen and the sight of him on it had done crazy things to her teenage hormones. She remembered sneaking out after curfew to ride on the back of it, holding on tight to him as they sped along the empty dirt roads at night, stopping to make out near the riverbank…“That’s not necessary. I got it under control.”

He ignored her. Opening the lid, he looked inside, then reached into the water, up to his biceps. Sexy, toned, still-tanned-from-the-Miami-sun biceps.

“Really, I’m sure you have places to be. I’ll call someone if it’s something I can’t fix on my own.” Since ending his pursuit of a hockey career, Jackson flipped houses for a living and was quite the handyman. He was her go-to for these kind of things.

“It’s okay. I’m here anyway,” Neil said, not sounding all too pleased about it.

Well neither was she. She certainly hadn’t been expecting a visit from the hottest man to ever leave her weak in the knees. And she definitely would not have invited him in and allowed him to see her messy laundry room. But here he was. Standing in two inches of water, his arm disappearing in her washing machine, looking like a sexy gift from handyman heaven.

And she was wearing Star Wars pajama pants and a holiday-themed sweatshirt featuring Grumpy Cat that said dashing through the snow…get the f*ck out of my way.

Not exactly the way one fantasizes about running into an ex.

She was going to have to have the “don’t open the door to strangers” talk with Taylor again.

“I think I found the problem,” he said, pulling a thin piece of black, lacy fabric from the machine. “These were wrapped around the agitator.” He opened the thong, stretching the thin waistband between his hands. “Nice.”

Her mortification obviously knew no bounds. She yanked them out of his hands and tucked the wet fabric under her arm. She’d worn them under duress earlier that week when she’d had nothing else clean. They were horrible. The lace, the string between her ass cheeks…She shuddered at the memory of how they’d ridden up past her jeans when she’d bent over at the grocery store to pick up an apple that had rolled off the fruit display table, and she’d caught the fifteen-year-old stock boy, Al, staring.

She should have burned them instead of washing them because she would never wear them again. “Thank you for discovering the problem,” she said through clenched teeth. “Even though I said I had it under control.”

He ignored her comment. “Why don’t you plug it back in and see if that fixes things?”

Well, another thong wouldn’t be caught in there, if that’s what he was hoping. A memory of the lingerie she used to wear for him flashed in her mind—matching bra and panty sets, one-piece teddies…The look in his eyes seeing her in those things had made her feel like the sexiest woman in the world. And the way he’d slowly remove the garments from her body had sparked a passion, an intensity, an undeniable need…

Her eyes met his now and she could see her own thoughts reflected in his expression. He glanced away quickly, but it was too late—she knew that look well. She wasn’t the only one struggling with the past.

She plugged in the machine and it hummed as it resumed its cycle as though nothing had happened. As if the ground beneath her feet hadn’t just trembled.

“Great,” Neil said. “Just FYI—You’re supposed to put those things in a garment washing bag.”

“Suddenly a connoisseur of women’s delicates?” Damn, that sounded jealous even to her ears.

“Twelve years is enough time for anyone to change.”

Was it? Then why did things feel so much the same when she looked at him? Too much time had passed, too much life had happened for both of them—she couldn’t claim to know the man he was now. Yet, her heart insisted it did.

Before she could say anything, his hands were on her face. Her eyes widened at the feel of the rough palms against her skin. She opened her mouth to speak, but his lips pressed against hers before she could process what was happening.

What was he doing? What was she doing? That was the better question as her arms circled his neck. And how did the sensation of his mouth on hers feel so damn familiar after all these years?

“I’m no one of importance, sweetness.  For tonight, call me the Master of Your Dreams.”  I smirked as I said it, because she had no clue she’d been starring in mine for a while now.
Jesse quickly countered, “You’re not my Master, and there’s no way in hell I’m a full submissive.  No one bosses me around.  I’m too damn independent to let someone control me.”
I pushed away from the door and walked right up to her, only inches separating us.  I lifted my hand to rub my fingers across her cheek.  At first she flinched, but then leaned into my touch as I ran my thumb over her lower lip.  “I beg to differ, sweetness.  How about a little wager?”
I knew I shouldn’t extend this offer, but she looked like sin on a stick.  I loved how her ample breasts would be more than a handful for me, along with those killer hips and thighs—enough to hang on to and squeeze my waist while I plowed into her.  STOP thinking with your dick, man! You have no idea who she is to Mr. Tennison.  She could be the niece or stepdaughter he was talking about, or she could be his mistress, but either way, she’s off limits to you.   I guess it’s a good thing I tend to ignore my conscience, because no one ever stirred me like this little package of perfection.
Her eyes, once again, fell to the floor as she asked, “What did you have in mind?”
I lifted her chin so our eyes met as I stepped even closer, our chests barely touching one another.  “If I can get you tied up and to surrender to me in the next seven minutes, you’ll admit you’re a submissive, and you’ll let me bring you to orgasm—one of the best of your life—before you are escorted out of the club.”  She started shaking her head, but I firmly held her chin to keep her focus on me.  “If you resist me, then I’ll let you play out your Domme fantasy, and I’ll submit to your orders and let you do whatever your heart desires.”
Her lips twisted in thought before she lifted her chin in defiance and allowed a smile to dance across her face, “Be prepared to lose.”
“Do you have any hard limits?”
She nodded, “Just one: no actual sex or penetration with your dick.”  With a pink blush spreading up her neck and onto her face, she looked down toward her privates. “You know, down there, I’ll consider the possibility of an oral exchange.”
Her words gave me a visual of doing exactly what she didn’t want: plowing into her with her shapely thighs holding tight to my waist.  But I could deal, especially if it meant her smart mouth wrapped around my cock with those luscious lips; I couldn’t imagine anything more enticing.  “That’s no problem, sweetness.  I can bring you plenty of pleasure without my dick, but that’s your loss, not mine.”
I leaned forward, wrapping one arm around her waist and settling my hand against her lower back, while I reached my other hand up underneath her wig to the nape of her neck. Teasing her lower lip with my tongue, “Are you ready to begin, Mistress Jesse?”
She sucked in a breath by my knowledge of her name, so I took the opportunity and sealed my lips over hers, driving my tongue deep into her mouth.  Jesse tasted as good as she looked—sweet as a Georgia peach—which had been my favorite thing to eat when I was stationed at an Air Force Base during my final commission with the military in Georgia.  I wanted to consume her whole mouth, drawing the essence of her soul into me so I could possess her.  Have you forgotten that she’s your charge, part of your assignment? Shut the fuck up, conscience…she feels so right and so wrong all at the same time.
At first she wiggled in my grasp, but after a few seconds, her arms came up, wrapping around my neck as I pulled her tight to me. Her body instantly molded to mine, fitting my frame as though she were made just for me. She felt so right pressed up against every inch of my body.  I slowly started guiding her backward toward the wall with the cross.
I pressed her back against the hard surface as I lifted both of her hands over her head and held them there in one of mine, grinding myself into her center to see how she’d respond.  The little minx pushed herself into me as her tongue crashed into my mouth, seeking more from me.  It took every ounce of my control as a Dom to stay focused.  She had my brain and my body rattled, and I’ve never been that way.  While keeping her mind in a befuddled state of bliss, I slowly maneuvered one hand and secured it to the cross.
A strong voice broke through my memory…”Derrick.  Damn it, soldier, get your head out of your ass and let’s continue this.  I don’t have all night.” Tennison huffed.  How the hell could I forget he was here?  I seriously need to get my shit together, because Jesse just might be the death of me.  My thoughts will have to wait until later…

“Hey.” I smiled.

He didn’t smile back, simply lifted his chin in my direction and shoved his hands in the front pockets of his ripped jeans.

I crossed my arms over my chest and made a clucking sound with my tongue. “Looks like your all mine this afternoon.”

Shoot.

Somehow that had sounded different in my head then it did out loud and my cheeks flushed what I imagined was a bright pink. Of course I’d tricked him into spending the day with me, but it wasn’t something I planned on outright telling him just now.

The corners of his mouth twitched, like maybe he’d considered the idea of smiling but again, he did not speak.

“Right, okay then.” I filled the silence.

Pushing off the truck with my butt, I walked in the direction of the two double doors ahead of us. Lucky for me, he seemed more focused on what I was doing then he was at reading the sign on the door we were currently passing through.

“Table for two.” I told the hostess when we stepped inside.

“Let me check if we have any booths available.” She smiled at us and left to do a walk through of the restaurant.

Rhys started to back towards the door and a hint of panic bubbled up in my throat at the thought that maybe he really would run away from me, again.

“If you leave now you’ll embarrass me.” I blurted.

It was low, almost the equivalent of threatening to cry, but it worked.

He quit retreating but his eyes fell away from me and he just stared at the floor. The black equine for hearts tee that he’d cut the sleeves off of seemed to somehow make his arms look longer inside the small entryway.

I guessed for the first time that he was probably somewhere around six foot three.

The hostess returned and grabbed two menus before promptly leading us to a booth in the back of the restaurant.

No sooner had my butt grazed the vinyl did the questions erupt from his otherwise silent demeanour.

“What is this?” His voice tumbled across the table like a freight train.

Not angry, just demanding.

“It’s a date.” I deadpanned, flipping my menu opened.

DERRICK'S CHOICE by @CynthiaPONeill: #NewRelease & #GIVEAWAY

Derrick’s Choice
Titan Security – Book #1
By Cynthia P. O’Neill
Genre: Erotic Romantic Suspense
— SYNOPSIS —

Derrick Caldwell:
Trying to carve out my own way in life, I joined the Air Force, only to have my dad pull strings to place me in Special Ops. Turns out, my entire life had been decided for me; I was to follow in my father’s footsteps.

Once discharged, I had my goals within reach and defying dad was at the top of my list, until Jesse walked in, stealing everything I wanted. I should’ve hated her for taking away my choice, but I couldn’t; one smile was all it took to brand herself on my soul. I swore I’d bide my time and eventually have my dream job and her!

Who knew the position my father forced me to take for Titan Security would lead me to everything I desired? I’d have to act fast, as time was working against me, with a potential killer on the loose, money missing from the company, and someone stalking her…

Jesse Bradford:
On the verge of making manager, I was consumed with work, before Derrick stepped in and snatched my promotion out from under me. He’s familiar, but how? And why did he take my breath away every time we touched? I wanted to make his job a living hell – until someone tried to kill me.

Now my life was in his hands, the ones I imagined bending me to his will. Why am I even thinking this way? He has me confused, forcing me to rethink who I am, submitting to my desires, and helping him track down a killer(s) before they strike again. Can I trust him? I don’t know that I have a choice.

“Our first encounter was meant as an attempt to scare you off. You now understand why it was dangerous coming there: you were related to the owner. But, I convinced your uncle to allow you membership. At least that way, you wouldn’t seek guidance elsewhere, and I could keep watch over you and protect you.” His voice lowered and the pupils of his eyes widened as he took in my appearance. He was turned on, and I couldn’t blame him; the pull between us, which existed both in the club and at work, was stronger than ever—a hum of electricity just waiting to be released. “The moment I saw you, I wanted you for my own. I used the threat of a killer to keep you close, but truthfully, I wanted to explore the feelings you stirred inside me—something I’ve never felt with anyone before. When I gave you that collar, I made sure it had my initials as Master Derrick, not just the Master of your Dreams.”

He looked out into the room, staring at what, I don’t know. “I love dominating you in the bedroom and behind closed doors. I want to push you to your limits, but I want you to challenge me in life. I’ve never met someone who could go toe-to-toe with me on anything.”

He swallowed hard, before turning his face back to me. “You are the only person with the power to destroy me. I don’t know when it happened or why, but I’ve fallen for you. Seeing you almost killed made me realize just how deep my feelings run. I thought they were related just to the sexual chemistry between us, but the pull was there at the gym, at the pool, and in the office when I was just Derrick. Why do you think I worked so hard to keep my distance from you? I tried to force myself not to get emotionally attached, but here I am. As I said before, little one, you have all the power.”

I reached up, grabbing the back of his head and bringing his lips down to hover close to mine, as I whispered, “I forgive you. I think I’ve fallen for you, too.”

His mouth possessed mine completely, as his tongue pushed through to devour every inch of me. I matched his kisses fervently, needing reassurance that I was truly alive.

The doorbell to Ink Addiction chimed and Mikey inwardly groaned. He ducked behind the curtain toward the back of the shop. Through a gap he watched Detective Harry Hunter survey the parlor until he spotted the glass top counter and Mandy.
Her bright smile greeted him. “What can we help you with today?”
“Looking for Mikey Hardin. Is he here?”
Please don’t tell him I’m here.
“Yeah, he’s in the back.” She nodded in Mikey’s direction.
Dammit.
“Mike!” she shouted. Her feet padded toward him. “Mike…”
He came out of his hiding spot and nearly ran into her.
Her face flushed. “Oh…this guy is here to see—”
“I heard.”
Mandy returned to her post behind the counter as Hunter joined Mikey back by his work station, a cup of coffee in his hand.
“Hardin, need to have a word with you.”
What now?
“All right.” He waved him over. “We’ll need to make this quick, got another tattoo to do in twenty minutes.”
“This won’t take long. I’ll come right out with it. Do you know a Chelsea Rand?” Hunter scrutinized Mikey’s face.
“No, can’t say I do. Is there a reason you’re asking about her?”
“She was found murdered.”
“Another one? Shit, when?”
Harry sipped his coffee, eyeing Mikey over the rim of the cup. “About a year ago.”
“And you think I had something to do with it?” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “When is this nightmare going to end?” he muttered under his breath.
“What’s that?” Hunter asked.
“Nothing. When did you say she was killed?”
“A year ago. You didn’t know her?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Do you keep records of your customers?”
“Clients. Yes, but names only unless they pay with a credit card. Sometimes emails.”
“You wouldn’t happen to have the list handy or on a computer, would you?”
Mikey walked behind the curtain where he’d tried hiding from the detective. Hunter followed him.
He sat down at a glass top desk with chrome legs and began tapping on the laptop keyboard. He entered the name into the search function of the scheduling program. Chelsea Rand came up, along with her email address used for newsletters with the dates and times of all her appointments. Hunter leaned over his shoulder.
“How come I see her name?” the detective asked.
