The insidious pull of the other predators around him is also more than a sweet temptation he finds himself unable to resist.

DANCER by Jamie Schlosser
Series: The Good Guys; Book 2
Genre: New Adult | Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Star Bound Books
Release Date: December 8th, 2016
— SYNOPSIS —
BRIELLE

Technically, I’m not a stripper. As a cage dancer, I don’t take all my clothes off and no one gets to touch me. I’m just the eye-candy.

And I can feel their eyes on me. I know they’re watching, but I don’t do this for them.

This is my time.

My life may not have turned out the way I thought it would, but I’m not complaining. From 9pm to 1am several days a week I get paid to feel sexy, to feel desired, to do what I love.

I always knew I wanted to be a dancer—I just didn’t realize I’d be doing it in a cage.

COLTON
Erectile dysfunction—two words that can cause a collective cringe from men everywhere. The doctors can call it ‘performance anxiety’ all they want, but that’s just a fancy way of saying my dick doesn’t work.

Just when I start to think there’s no hope for me, I see her. She’s gorgeous, sexy, and goofy as f*ck. She also looks really familiar but I can’t put my finger on it.

When I find out who she really is, my world is turned upside-down and everything seems to fall into place.

She’s not gonna make it easy for me, but I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. She’s convinced I won’t stick around.

I’ll prove her wrong.
I’ll show her I’m one of the good guys.

*Although Dancer is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

— REVIEW: 5 STARS
MY FAR MY FAVORITE INSTALLMENT IN THE SERIES!!
Erik.
Man, what a swoony guy!!!! I loved, loved, loved him and I absolutely LOVED how much he loved Monique. He did anything for her, even if it meant putting himself in not-so-pleasant situations. I loved his parents too and Monique's dad. Her mom? Meh. Not so much! She got on my last nerve! Not that I could blame her for the attitude and hatred she seemed to feel all the time towards mages, but ughshe pissed me off a lot! I found myself telling her time and time again to back off!

The dead people part of this story was slightly (not-so-slightly) creepy!! I can't imagine living with that gift like Erik did...but he was pretty bad-ass!

There's suspense, drama, action, hotness, and everything a must-read paranormal romance novel should have! Brandy L Rivers truly hit a home-run with DEADLY DESIGN. FIVE STARS!

Trinity Flores stumbled upon the Sawyer family when she needed it most.

She was broken, lost, and looking for a new beginning.

But he had no idea the torment he was about to face, or the obstacles he would encounter from the Sawyer Brothers.

They didn’t make it easy for him to win her heart. He had to prove himself first, and that just made him fight harder to prove he was the right man for her.

Gaining Trinity’s trust was his number one goal.

— EXCERPT
Sometimes I woke from a dream of still being trapped in that house, still fearful of his anger. My mind would fall back to that place where I felt it was all deserved. Michael had a control over me I couldn’t explain, and I allowed it to continue for far too long.

I lived with it and just accepted it as my fate until that final day when I could no longer take the hate he showed me. I could barely even tolerate myself because I was so shameful of my life and how far I’d let things go.

It was my fault I never stood up to him; instead, I allowed him to knock me down daily and take all his anger out on me. He had a way with words that could make anyone feel inferior to him. He was condescending and manipulative and I was a fool.

It was disgusting, the person I had become.

I was really heartbroken now when I thought back on it all. How I’d wasted precious time, time I’d never get back.

But I escaped and somehow, by some miracle, I found my way to Livingston. I stumbled upon some of the greatest people with the warmest souls. And I was proud to refer to those people as my family. It didn’t matter that we didn’t share the same bloodline; they loved me just the same and I in turn loved and adored them. It was because of the Sawyer family that I found the strength to press charges against Michael for the things he had put me through. It was because of them I filed for divorce and started to once again live my life.

I would forever be grateful to Noah and Ryan for helping me find the right path that day. They honestly could have shipped me down the road and forgotten about the homeless girl they found stranded in a car on a back country road. Instead they introduced me to the women they loved, and in turn I found myself surrounded by so much joy I had no idea what to do with it all.

The three Sawyer men referred to me daily as their sister and so did their wives. And Tammy, God bless her, gave me the love of a mother, something I’d never had before, and nothing had ever felt so good.

It was something I treasured and in no way could I ever explain just how thankful I truly was.

The bond we’d formed could never be broken. I was finally home.

I had become so wrapped up in my own thoughts I hadn’t heard the bell above the door of Sassy Ladies chime, announcing a customer had entered. But at the sound of a deep voice just a few feet behind me, I yelped in surprise as I spun around with my hand pressed tightly against my chest.

There, only a few feet away, stood the man who’d starred in so many of my dreams lately. So vivid and convincing that it was hard not to feel they were real.

Chase Douglas.

— SYNOPSIS —

THE THIN LINE BETWEEN LOATHING...AND LUST.

It's been a tough year for Beth Boone. She's lost the person she cared about the most: her big sister. But Beth isn't grieving alone. She's now guardian to her sister's three children and though she loves them fiercely, so far she's not exactly winning at parenting. In this noisy, peanut-butter-everywhere chaos, there is no calm. None. So Beth has zero patience with the infuriating guy next door-not to mention his destruct-o "puppy"-wreaking more havoc in her life.

Except that Tripp Black is all muscles, deep brown eyes, and lips that promise way-too-delicious things. Every time Tripp and Beth confront each other, there's an undercurrent of red-hot sexual tension, one that threatens to break down all her carefully constructed walls. She's been burned before, and Tripp is a self-proclaimed bachelor for life. There's no way that Beth's too-hot-neighbor-from-hell could ever be the man for her-until their uncontrollable attraction becomes so much more.

— EXCERPT
Tripp knew within an instant that Beth Boone tasted better than anything he’d ever had in his mouth. There was no gentle coaxing necessary in the kiss. The second his lips were on hers, she opened for him, her tongue sliding against his.

And it wasn’t just her taste, either; she felt better than anything he’d ever touched…or had been touched by. Her hands were under his shirt, her bare palms moving across his abs. She flexed her fingers, her nails just biting into his skin.

Okay, so she liked it a little rough. He could work with that.

He repaid the slight sting she’d left on his lower belly by nipping at her bottom lip. Her answering moan sent him over the edge and just like that he had her pushed up against the counter. He gently tugged on her hair, getting her to tilt her head and allowing him to deepen the kiss.

It was a whole new experience kissing Beth, the shock to his system setting off a chain reaction in his body. His blood ran hotter, his heart beat faster, his skin felt over-sensitized…stretched too tight and tingling.

The feel of her against him—her mouth, her hands, the scent of her, the taste of her— burned him.

She burned him. Kissing this woman was like something he’d never known.

“Holy shit.” He pulled back, needing a full breath of air before his lungs exploded.

Beth’s head was cradled in his palm and he took in the full picture as he looked down into her face. Her blue eyes were dazed, blond hair wild, lips slightly swollen, breath coming in and out in uneven gasps.

So damn beautiful it was insane.

“What are you doing to me?” he asked, shaking his head.

But he didn’t give her a chance to answer before his mouth was on hers again—tongues tangling, breaths mingling, need consuming.

Yeah, consuming was the right word, which was why it probably took both of them entirely by surprise when two dogs barking echoed around them. Tripp pulled his mouth away from Beth’s, keeping his hands firmly in place as he turned.

Duke and Frankie were already wrestling on the floor in front of Finn, who was standing in the living room. His eyebrows were raised in surprise at the scene before him. “I, uh, knocked… The door was open so I figured you were outside or something.”

“I was just leaving.” Beth pulled away from Tripp’s hold, her face and neck flushed. Whether it was more from the kissing or being caught he wasn’t entirely sure.

What he was sure about was that he really didn’t like the fact that she wasn’t under his hands anymore.

“You sure? I can just come back so you two can finish up.” Finn pointed to the door as he bit his bottom lip, trying and failing to hide the smirk that was making his mouth twitch.

“That’s not necessary.” Beth moved farther across the kitchen, putting distance between her and Tripp. “I’ll see you later. Enjoy the pie,” she said before she turned and practically ran down the hallway.

But that wasn’t how this was going to end.

“Give me a sec.” Tripp made to follow Beth before he turned quickly and looked at Finn. “And don’t eat my pie.”

Beth practically sprinted from Tripp’s house, her mind, heart, and pulse racing. Tripp Black had just kissed her…and she’d had absolutely no problem kissing him back. The instant his lips had touched hers she’d opened her mouth for him. Good gravy, if Finn hadn’t walked in there was no telling what else she would’ve opened for him.

Oh, that was a lie; she knew exactly what else she would’ve opened for him. She’d have let that man carry her off to any hard surface and spread her out. Let him do whatever the hell he wanted.

He’d had his hands on her, those big masculine calloused hands that had been gentle and demanding at the same time. It had been so long since she’d been touched by a man…but no one had ever touched her like that.

And she’d touched him back. Her palms still burned with the feel of his skin and she balled her hands in an attempt to hold onto the sensation.

She was almost to the side door that led to the garage when the sound of her name had her turning around. Tripp was rounding the side of his house at a jog, a look of fierce determination on his face.
Her stomach started to somersault immediately.

What are you doing to me? Tripp had asked that question right before he’d started the second round of kissing that had been damn near close to destroying her.

No, the real question was, what was he doing to her?

“What the hell was that?” he asked when he was only a few feet away. “You just walk away?”

“Tripp, I—”

But that was all she got out before he pushed her up against the brick wall. “I wasn’t done kissing you.”

His mouth came down hard on hers, and just like before, she didn’t fight him one little bit. And why the hell would she?

He’d awakened a hunger in her that had been dormant for way too long, a hunger that in that moment was stronger than it had ever been. Maybe it was stronger because it was shared—the man seemed pretty hell bent on devouring her.

She had her hands in his hair this time; she hadn’t reached that high before as she’d gotten distracted by touching his body. The strands were soft and damp between her fingers. He must’ve just showered; the scent of soap on his skin strong.

“God,” he groaned as he trailed his lips down her neck. “If I’d known this was what kissing you was like, we could’ve saved ourselves a lot of arguments.”

“Is that right?”

“You wouldn’t have been able to yell at me if your mouth had been occupied with mine.”

“But then you wouldn’t have gotten cookies…or pie,” she countered as his lips started to make the return journey up her throat and across her jaw.

“I’d rather have your mouth.” And just like that he was kissing her again, his tongue stroking against hers and taking control.

When Tripp pulled back from her a minute—or five—later, Beth was slow to open her eyes, taking more than a second to focus on him.

“Consider everything forgiven.” He brushed his lips against hers, the scruff of his beard just rasping against her cheek as he moved his mouth up to her ear. “And Beth?”

“Hmmm?” she hummed, unable to say any actual words.

“I’m still not done kissing you.” With that he stepped back from her and walked away.

She stood there, unable to pull her gaze from him as he disappeared around the side of the house.
Holy fuck. Did that really just happen?

Yes, yes it had. Tripp had kissed the ever living daylights out of her. He’d thoroughly decimated her brain…which was probably why her back was still fused to the brick wall and she hadn’t moved at all.

She’d go inside just as soon as she remembered how to walk again…whenever that was.

Startled, I spun around to see Aaron standing in the entryway of the kitchen. I placed my hand on my chest as I tried to catch my breath.

“Speak of the devil,” I said. “You scared me.”

“The devil, huh?” he asked, dragging his fingers through his dark hair.

There was no smile, no hint of joking. I didn’t know what he was doing by coming to me again. There was no room left in me to try and figure him out.

“Did you need something?” I asked.

He shrugged. “I heard you down here and—”

“Wait,” I said, stopping him. “Did you hear me on the phone?”

His large shoulders lifted as he took in a deep breath. He didn’t need to say a word. He absolutely did hear. There are times when you’d think to yourself, Wow. Things can’t get much worse than this. Then like magic, it does. This was one of the moments.

I turned back toward the sink, and after a moment, I heard him move, stepping cautiously toward me. I couldn’t face him.

“I didn’t mean to listen,” he said. “But I need to know.”

“What?”

“If what you said was true.”

He came up behind me, but I still couldn’t look at him. I knew if I did I would lose what little control I was holding on to.

His movements got closer.

Closer.

Closer. So close.

My body adhered to the warmth coming off of him, willing me into submission. I knew in my mind I couldn’t do that, but my body, my body was screaming something different to me.

“Calliope,” he whispered into the back of my neck. “Tell me. Please.”

His hands circled my waist, and I lost all resolve when he pulled me into him. His lips grazed my ear. “Tell me,” he repeated.

I was almost light-headed, our bodies melting into each other, his warm mouth breathing softly on my neck. “What do you want me to tell you?”

His grip around my waist tightened, and he spun me around, our faces just inches apart. His eyes lingered over my face, settling on my mouth. He dragged his tongue over his bottom lip, the energy between us enough to make me tremble.

Before I even knew what he was doing, he shifted me away from the sink and picked me up from the waist, lifting me onto the countertop. With his eyes still fixed to mine, he placed his hands on my bare knees, spreading apart my legs.

He stepped into me while lazily dragging his hands from my knees to my hips. His movements continued up my side, increasing pressure while passing my breast and letting a thumb graze over the swell underneath it.

He still hadn’t answered my question when his hands reached my neck, and he intertwined his fingers behind it.

He leaned forward. “Tell me it’s okay for me to kiss you. I need you to say this is okay,” he begged.

I shut my eyes tightly, knowing the only way I could refuse him would be if I didn’t have to see him. “I can’t. You said—”

“Look at me,” he demanded.

I should’ve shouted at him that enough was enough, and we couldn’t keep doing this dance. I should’ve reminded him about Delilah and how she was the most important thing in all of this. I should’ve told him we both knew it was wrong. I should’ve told him that despite the pull, the unstoppable force chipping away at our resolve, we could never be right together because the twenty-four-year-old nanny wouldn’t be enough for a man like him. I couldn’t ever be enough for him.

I should’ve said all these things.

I should’ve pushed past him and run out of the kitchen.

But I didn’t do or say any of those things.

Instead, I did the one thing I knew I shouldn’t. I opened my eyes, met his, and willed myself to stay strong.

He reached his other hand up to the side of my face, cautiously and painfully slow. “I know you feel it, too. I see it in the way you look at me, the way your entire body responds when I move close. I just heard you say the words on the phone. I’m telling you I feel it, too. I’ve fought it, but…” He trailed off.

I tilted my head, resting my cheek into his touch. Everything about him surrounded me, and I fought against the voice inside of me, the screaming voice that shouted this was wrong.

But there was another voice that told me that this was maybe a once-in-a-lifetime thing, that if I walked away I’d never feel this kind of intense pull to another man again. Yeah. That voice was so much louder.

“Are you sure?” I whispered. “Only if you’re sure.”

His expression looked almost pained, and I knew he was battling the same voices in his own mind. “I’m not sure, but I can’t walk away anymore.”

He was leaving it in my hands. It was all me. I knew what I should do, but…

I grabbed his shirt in two fists and pulled him toward me, our lips almost touching. “It’s okay.”

Our lips connected in a fiery passion and my body lit up everywhere. The answer was right there. This was what I wanted.

And it was what he wanted, too.

— SYNOPSIS —

Love is always worth the risk . . .

Neil Healy was happy to be promoted to Air Force Lieutenant, but he's less than thrilled that the new job has brought him back to his hometown. The memories alone could kill a man, to say nothing of actually seeing the woman he never got over. Neil knew avoiding Becky Westmore would be impossible, but he didn't expect the chemistry between them to be as strong as ever.

All Becky wants this holiday season is to get through the month of December with her sanity intact. Not helping? Her ex-boyfriend's return to Glenwood Falls. Even after a decade apart, Neil still makes her feel in ways no other man has. But Christmas is a time for miracles, and maybe Becky's will be a second chance at first love.

“Need some help?”

The unexpected sound of a deep male voice made Becky jump and lose her balance once again on the wet floor. Two hands gripped her shoulders to steady her and she immediately wished he’d have let her fall. Feeling her cheeks on fire, she turned to face Neil.

His profile picture did not fully capture the hotness standing in front of her. Time had been far too good to him. The young, boyish face had been replaced by a rugged handsomeness that would turn more than one head in the small town, and she immediately felt a pang of irrational jealousy. His solid, square jaw with just the right amount of stubble had always been her weakness, and his dark brown eyes held a look of uncertainty mixed with a friendly familiarity as though no time at all had passed since she’d last gazed into them.

Becky folded her arms across her body, putting up a physical barrier to match the internal one that had immediately sprung up around her heart at the unexpected feelings spurred by the sight of her ex. “What are you doing here? How’d you get in?” Small town or not, she never left her door unlocked. After having a police officer for a husband, she’d known not to adopt a false sense of security.

“Your daughter let me in.” He surveyed the mess of the laundry room. “Washing machine problems?” he asked, removing his jacket to reveal a tight, black T-shirt haphazardly tucked into one side of a hip-hugging pair of denim.

“Oh no…it’s no…” She clamped her lips together. She couldn’t even remember the question. What was it about his big, muscular arms that turned her brain to complete mush?

Maybe the fact that she still remembered what it felt like to be wrapped up in them?

“Let me look,” Neil said, moving her away by her shoulders and stepping carefully into the two inches of water on the floor. It sloshed under his boots and soaked the frayed hem of his faded jeans.

Riding boots. He’d always talked about owning a motorcycle. An adrenaline junkie from an early age, he’d owned his first dirt bike at fourteen and the sight of him on it had done crazy things to her teenage hormones. She remembered sneaking out after curfew to ride on the back of it, holding on tight to him as they sped along the empty dirt roads at night, stopping to make out near the riverbank…“That’s not necessary. I got it under control.”

He ignored her. Opening the lid, he looked inside, then reached into the water, up to his biceps. Sexy, toned, still-tanned-from-the-Miami-sun biceps.

“Really, I’m sure you have places to be. I’ll call someone if it’s something I can’t fix on my own.” Since ending his pursuit of a hockey career, Jackson flipped houses for a living and was quite the handyman. He was her go-to for these kind of things.

“It’s okay. I’m here anyway,” Neil said, not sounding all too pleased about it.

Well neither was she. She certainly hadn’t been expecting a visit from the hottest man to ever leave her weak in the knees. And she definitely would not have invited him in and allowed him to see her messy laundry room. But here he was. Standing in two inches of water, his arm disappearing in her washing machine, looking like a sexy gift from handyman heaven.

And she was wearing Star Wars pajama pants and a holiday-themed sweatshirt featuring Grumpy Cat that said dashing through the snow…get the f*ck out of my way.

Not exactly the way one fantasizes about running into an ex.

She was going to have to have the “don’t open the door to strangers” talk with Taylor again.

“I think I found the problem,” he said, pulling a thin piece of black, lacy fabric from the machine. “These were wrapped around the agitator.” He opened the thong, stretching the thin waistband between his hands. “Nice.”

Her mortification obviously knew no bounds. She yanked them out of his hands and tucked the wet fabric under her arm. She’d worn them under duress earlier that week when she’d had nothing else clean. They were horrible. The lace, the string between her ass cheeks…She shuddered at the memory of how they’d ridden up past her jeans when she’d bent over at the grocery store to pick up an apple that had rolled off the fruit display table, and she’d caught the fifteen-year-old stock boy, Al, staring.

She should have burned them instead of washing them because she would never wear them again. “Thank you for discovering the problem,” she said through clenched teeth. “Even though I said I had it under control.”

He ignored her comment. “Why don’t you plug it back in and see if that fixes things?”

Well, another thong wouldn’t be caught in there, if that’s what he was hoping. A memory of the lingerie she used to wear for him flashed in her mind—matching bra and panty sets, one-piece teddies…The look in his eyes seeing her in those things had made her feel like the sexiest woman in the world. And the way he’d slowly remove the garments from her body had sparked a passion, an intensity, an undeniable need…

Her eyes met his now and she could see her own thoughts reflected in his expression. He glanced away quickly, but it was too late—she knew that look well. She wasn’t the only one struggling with the past.

She plugged in the machine and it hummed as it resumed its cycle as though nothing had happened. As if the ground beneath her feet hadn’t just trembled.

“Great,” Neil said. “Just FYI—You’re supposed to put those things in a garment washing bag.”

“Suddenly a connoisseur of women’s delicates?” Damn, that sounded jealous even to her ears.

“Twelve years is enough time for anyone to change.”

Was it? Then why did things feel so much the same when she looked at him? Too much time had passed, too much life had happened for both of them—she couldn’t claim to know the man he was now. Yet, her heart insisted it did.

Before she could say anything, his hands were on her face. Her eyes widened at the feel of the rough palms against her skin. She opened her mouth to speak, but his lips pressed against hers before she could process what was happening.

What was he doing? What was she doing? That was the better question as her arms circled his neck. And how did the sensation of his mouth on hers feel so damn familiar after all these years?
