Ian Grady, drummer for Blue is the Color, is a quiet, self-contained enigma, even to his closest friends and band mates. He’s comfortable staying in the background, playing the drums and working on his puzzles.

Valentina Petrov marches to the beat of her own drum and has never felt the need to fit in. Having been sheltered most of her life, she’s ready to step outside of her comfort zone and experience the world in a way she never has.

When Ian rescues his new next door neighbor, Valentina, he becomes her hero, a title he doesn’t want. The girl, though? He can’t seem to stop wanting her, even though the last thing he’s looking for is a relationship.

The trouble is, Valentina is seeking adventure, and the tall, tattooed drummer next door looks like the exact type of adventure she’s been waiting for.

EXCERPT:
I stood in front of Ian’s door for several minutes, working up the nerve to knock. My hand went up, then back down.

Nope, I couldn’t do this. I turned away to slink back to my house when Ian’s door flew open. I whipped back around to see him leaning against the doorframe, eyes alight with amusement.

“You’re not going to knock after all that?” he asked.

“I was still thinking about it.”

He watched me, and I watched him back.

“Looked like you’d decided.”

Taking a step toward him, I held up the paper bag. “I brought you a muffin.”

His eyebrow raised. “Did you?”

“I did. It’s chocolate chip. It’s a thank you...for yesterday. For making me feel safe after.”

He didn’t reach out to take the bag, so I slowly lowered my hand. “Anyway, you probably don’t like muffins. The muffin was just an excuse to say thank you. And I’ve said thank you, so I guess I’ll go.”

I turned away again, but a gentle hand came down on my shoulder, spinning me back around. Ian’s gaze swept over my face, cataloging every detail. His hand fell, and I felt the bag being taken from me.

“You didn’t give me my muffin.” His voice was low, but soft. The way it made me feel when it passed through my ears was like rubbing a cotton ball between my thumb and index finger.

“I didn’t think you wanted the muffin.”

He was so big, so tall, I had to tip my head back to look at him. Until this very second, I hadn’t known how much I liked it. Pretty sure Ian had ruined me for any future short, nerdy boy crushes.

“I do,” he said.

MEET THE AUTHOR:
As a little girl, I watched my mom read her Harlequin romance novels and always wondered what was so fascinating about them. When I grew up and finally read my first romance, my first reaction was “Oh!” followed by a “Ooooooh!”. A romance reader was born!

And now I create my own love stories. I like taking the everyday and injecting a whole lot of swoon into it. Who doesn’t want that?

Most of my books take place in and around Baltimore. It’s what i know, and it’s an area I love. I like to mix in a little bit of big city with my small town.

When I’m not writing, I’m momming my three crazy, beautiful kids. Although according to them, I’m always writing!
